Therapeutic Massage Therapy in Austin and Round Rock

Therapeutic Massage Therapy
Serving Austin, Round Rock, Pflugerville and Georgetown, TX

Therapeutic Massage Characteristics:

  • Designed for those that have experienced an injury or physical challenge.

  • This massage is generally not a 'flowing' type of massage and not necessarily designed for relaxation but rather to address a specific physical challenge or injury.

  • This modality may not be a full-body massage, unless time permits. My main focus will be on those areas affected by your injury or physical challenge and areas necessary to improve your current wellbeing.

  • Techniques include knowledge gained through training in Dub Leigh's Structural Integration Work (mentored by Ida Rolph, Feldenkrais, Berry, and Roshi) as well as specific stretch/pressure techniques (soft tissue release) as taught by Stewart Taws (who worked with Olympic Champions in England). Other techniques come from the Oriental theory of acupressure (working on tsubos/master points along meridians) as taught by Shizuko Yamamoto and Patrick McCarty.

  • Amount of pressure applied is determined by the need to address your specific physical challenge.

  • Massage medium: Oil

  • Draping optional

  • Hot-Pack and/or BIOFREEZE® application to challenged tissues and muscles.

  • Current music selection: Various selections from this massage music. Or, bring your own music. In this modality, I am open to any music.

  • I offer 60, 75 and 90 minute sessions.

Therapeutic Massage

Are you experiencing a physical challenge? Are you in need of relief from a recent injury?

Therapeutic massage is designed for weekend warriors and those that have developed a physical challenge.

It involves the manipulation of the soft tissue structures of the body to prevent and alleviate pain, discomfort, muscle spasm, and stress; and, to promote health and wellness of the effected area.

Therapeutic massage is a scientific art and system of assessing physical challenges. Once the physical challenge is thoroughly accessed, manual application will be applied to the superficial soft tissue of skin, muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia, and the structures that lie within the superficial tissue by using the hand, foot, knee, arm, elbow, and forearm through the systematic external application of touch, stroking (effleurage), friction, vibration, percussion, kneading (petrissage), stretching, compression, or passive and active joint movements within the normal physiologic range of motion.

If needed, adjunctive external applications of water, heat, and cold will be applied for the purposes of establishing and stimulating circulation, and producing therapeutic effects on the respiratory and nervous systems to promote healing.

Recommended Session

Recommending a session length is problematical until I am able to access the specific challenge that you are currently experiencing. Please note that, in some cases, substantial time may be required to properly access your injury or physical challenge before the application of any manual manipulation of the affected area.
